Department of Justice Launches 10 Regional Elder Justice Task Forces
The Department of Justice announced the launch of 10 regional Elder Justice Task Forces. ASCOG continues to experience greater cuts in every program and we have reached a point where “business as usual” is no longer affordable. For decades, we have mailed newsletters, agendas, etc. through the postal service. Now this has become an expensive luxury that we simply have to curtail. Mailed correspondence adds up significantly over the course of year when you consider the costs for personnel, paper, envelopes, printing and postage. Masonic Charities Foundation of Oklahoma provides funding to ASCOG Area Agency on Aging
The Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma has partnered with Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) across the state with funding to assist persons 55 years of age and older through the Masonic Grant. The Masonic Grant Assistance Program offers services to people such as, home repairs, wheel chair ramp construction, and handicap modifications to homes. Other Services offered are, chore services, emergency medication, durable medical equipment and dental services. The Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG) is accepting applications for assistance in Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Jefferson, McClain, Stephens, and Tillman counties. Free Ombudsman Training Offered
ASCOG (Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments) will provide free ombudsman training. A long-term care ombudsman advocates for rights of persons in long-term care settings like nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Learn more about long-term care issues by attending the free training sessions on January 27th and 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Plains Technology Center, Bldg. 600 in room 623B; 4500 SW Lee Blvd, Lawton. Free Nutrition Counseling for Seniors 60 and Older
The ASCOG Area Agency on Aging provides free nutrition counseling to a limited number of participants aged 60 and older. ASCOG has registered dieticians in each ASCOG nutrition site bimonthly. The dieticians are available to assist with physician ordered diets or questions related to individual nutrition. If you are already a participant at a senior nutrition site served by Delta Nutrition, Cyril Nutrition or Temple Nutrition, simply contact your site manager to sign up for nutrition counseling. If you are not currently participating at an ASCOG senior nutrition site, you can contact MaddieLuke to register for the nutrition counseling service.
